50 Shades of Brown

50 Shades of Brown is an exploration of digital skin tone. The buttons in the interaction are each a HEX code for a different simulation of brown skin. The interaction prompts the user to press these buttons, simulating the act of prodding and gazing; referencing the trauma that black and brown bodies and hair receive. The categorisation of colour and reference to the erotic drama '50 Shades of Grey' explores the problematic fetishisation and categorisation of people of colour and the challenges that come along with simulating identity.  Please take this invitation to navigate through digital melanin.
